CRISPR on the J-curve

Perhaps excepting Elon Musk, virtually all "Alfa-Humans" work mostly outside the planet's Institutional Power Structure.  Their historical reach via Books and Academy has always been limited.  Broadband and Podcasting have changed this significantly.  Recently I listened to a comprehensive talk on "Creative Genetics" offered by two super smart Alphas.  Their insights caused my progeny concerns regarding global warming and nuclear proliferation, to move down the list. The portability/availability of "genetic tools" offering heaven and hell scale life changes is staggering. Given that no tech limiting boundaries are politically likely/possible, the Smart Alphas summarized their future forecast as "dark, giving way to darker".  It's a good time to be old!

Do "Bubbles" cause our "Troubles"?

Eric Weinstein @EricRWeinstein , a popular MediaMan, has a knack for introducing queries on Twitter that provoke huge   numbers of comments.  He chooses simple relevant topics that strike a nerve in all of his wide following.  Recently he offered the following:

People say you shouldn’t live in a filter bubble. I don’t know about that. My experience of living in multiple incompatible filter bubbles is pretty awful. Takeaway: the fault is on the media and tech side. The bubble are the problem. Given the bubbles choosing one makes sense.

Not surprisingly this drew a huge number and diversity of responses.  I liked the three following best.

We surround ourselves with a bubble of confirmation bias. Everything outside becomes a potential pin.

I’m afraid it’s bubbles all the way down.

It's difficult to actually enjoy being completely open-minded. The price of that level of freedom is constant doubt and instability.

My personal take is that, as chosen characters in this evolutionary play, we are obliged to endure the instability and doubt in pursuing maximum "cross-bubble exposure", but....like, the duality of work/rest, we best take periodic solace in our most comfortable bubble.

Too Much "Why"

We're caught up in deliberating 90 shades of "why".  No one cares.  We have all, long since, cast our lot, aligning with one or the other polarized attractors in our indivisible common field. Best we just clearly articulate our personal "was...is...will" without explanation.  Let's stop shouting our obviously biased "why", and just "get it on".  Sooner or later we will reach a new calm.
