Why do we "lament"?

 

 Perhaps instead of hanging our heads in sorrow when we confront the "New America".... we can undertake to make sure that everyone has a gun, preparatory to a new and upgraded rendition of the 20th Century Blue & Grey Football Game.  We will call it the" Red & Blue Armageddon Game. We will do it on July 4.  Why "lament', when we have enough guns to get the feared "National Destruction" over and done in one day.

In the fullness of my time

I choose only to sleep and rhyme

 Why fish in the river when twitter is hot

Streaming what’s true and more often what’s not

 I pass forward bits of wisdom from the ages

Cheap shots delivered via the cyber sages

 Some cheer but most just say “fuck”  

Unwanted advise, drivels of woke bad luck

So be it, it’s ok if I now be moving slow

There’s ample evidence that we all haven’t far to go

All Men Are Created Equal

This morning the NYT's published a variety of polls identifying American attitudes regarding the Israel/Hamas war.  The conservative/liberal polarization was, as always, plainly evident.  Yes, pretty much the entire spectrum agreed that the Hamas attack was horrific and barbaric....but, as for blame and response, well, the two sides fundamental identities were clear.  If "all men are created equal", then say the Liberals, we must cherish and protect every life, including that of our enemy.  If "all men are not created equal", then  say the Conservatives, we must protect the righteous from the wicked". My sense is that Liberal is what we wish to be true, but Conservative is, sadly, what is true. As such, I identify Conservative, but with the caveat that....just because "all men are not created equal" and the divergent collective intelligence is more expressed in the Conservative subset, extermination of the wicked is neither rational nor righteous. As applied to the current Gaza situation, my best offering is that Israel should not have relinquished  control in 2006, but should have forced material bounty on the Palestinian population under very tight, Israel dominated political and police control.  Unfortunately there is no choice except to start this again, knowing that it will be another 18 years before the first likely bloom.

Predator Morphing

Sean Hannity: "How would you feel if they started combing through every aspect of your life in search of a crime and then dragged your children into it simply because they don’t like you or your politics."

When the going gets tough Predators (in this example Donald Trump) morph to a "scream victim" defense. Perspectively, we are all victims with some supportive base just waiting to march on our behalf. Palestinians comes to mind.  We best remember that all  "predators" are not equal in claiming "victim status".
